Ferries to Hvar at a glance

The first thing to settle is whether you bring a car. The car ferry from Split goes to Stari Grad, a port on the north coast. Foot passengers can take it too. The catamaran from Split goes straight to Hvar Town but takes no cars. Split to Hvar by boat therefore means two harbours about 20 minutes apart by road.

Timetables change with the season, and a sailing can be altered at short notice. Check the current timetable of the operator before you go, and treat the times below as examples.

2026 fares per direction

Off-season runs 1 January to 28 May and 28 September to 31 December. Season runs 29 May to 27 September. Island resident fares are not shown.

Line and ticketOff-seasonSeason
Split to Stari Grad, adult€5.90€8.40
Split to Stari Grad, child 3 to 12€3.00€4.20
Split to Stari Grad, car (standard class)€35.60€47.60

Drvenik to Sućuraj, child 3 to 12€1.40€2.10
Drvenik to Sućuraj, car (standard class)€13.50€19.70

The car price covers the vehicle, not the people in it. The standard class on the Split line is a car with up to 9 seats, up to 5 m long and up to 2 m high. A larger vehicle pays more. For most visitors without a car, the catamaran to Hvar Town is the simpler choice. With a car, book the Stari Grad ferry.

Catamaran to Hvar Town

The passenger boat from Split.

The direct catamaran Split to Hvar Town, line 641 of Jadrolinija, is a passenger service. One example sailing leaves at 10:10 and arrives at 11:15, which is 65 minutes. The fare is €25, and each extra piece of luggage costs €5. The summer block of sailings runs from 19 June to 13 September 2026.

This is a seasonal line. In 2026 the season ran from early or mid May to 11 October. Another operator offers a direct Split to Hvar crossing of about 50 minutes at €25 as well, and fares on other catamarans differ, so do not assume one price for all. Look up the dates for your trip each year.

Drvenik to Sućuraj

The short crossing at the eastern tip.

Line 632 links Drvenik on the mainland with Sućuraj at the eastern end of Hvar and runs all year. The crossing takes 30 minutes. A ticket is valid on the printed day for any sailing of that line, so there is no fixed place on one departure as there is on the Split line. Sailings are densest from 26 June to 30 August 2026. Do not expect a departure every hour round the clock.

The ferry lands far from Hvar Town. By car, Sućuraj to Hvar Town takes about 90 minutes, which is not a short hop.

Jelsa and the Bol line

Another way in.

Line 9603 runs Split, Bol, Stari Grad and Jelsa as one route. The fast-boat ticket is tied to the sailing you choose. Crossing times depend on the sailing and its stops, so look at the exact timetable for your date. See the day trips page for Brač and the other islands.
