Hvar weather at a glance

July and August are the warmest months, with average daily highs of about 29 °C and the least rain in July. Winter highs stay around 12 °C to 14 °C. Spring and autumn sit in between, which makes late May, June and September attractive if you want warm days without the peak of summer.

The figures below are long-term averages from the Hvar station of the Croatian weather service DHMZ, for the reference period 1961 to 1990. They show the pattern of the year, not a forecast. A single day can differ a lot from the average. Check a current forecast a few days before any boat trip.

High and low are the averages of the daily maximum and minimum, not records. Rain is the average total for the month. The sea figures are historical averages for the same period and do not tell you how warm the water is today. For most visitors, the best choice is early summer or early autumn. For swimming, aim for July to September, when the sea is warmest.

Treat these as a guide. For a trip with a boat day, add a spare day to your plan, because rough sea can change routes or cancel a trip. The Blue Cave, for example, can close in poor sea conditions. See the Blue Cave tours from Hvar.
