How Hvar tours differ
Most Hvar tours are boat days or inland day trips. Boat tours depend on the sea. A Blue Cave trip can change route or fall through when the weather is poor, and the cave entry is a separate decision from the boat ride. Wine tastings depend on the producer, so length, number of wines, food and transfers differ from one offer to the next.
Check three things for every tour: the meeting point, what the price covers and the cancellation terms. Whether a boat trip includes the cave ticket is a question for the specific offer.

Our picks: tours on Hvar
The Blue Cave and five islands day and the Vis speedboat are the long boat days, the Pakleni kayak tour is the quiet one. The wine tasting with a driver suits a land day, and the half-day boat tour is the shorter water option.

Tour types compared
What to expect from each kind of trip in 2026.
| Tour type | Where it goes | Depends on | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pakleni Islands boat day | Sveti Klement, Jerolim, Marinkovac and bays | Sea state, season | Swimming and a relaxed day |
| Blue Cave trip | Biševo, often with a stop at Vis | Weather, cave access | Seeing the cave in daylight |
| Wine tasting | Southern slopes, Ivan Dolac, Sveta Nedjelja, Vrisnik | Producer, booking | Local grapes and food |
| Island day tour | Villages, Stari Grad Plain, lavender hills | Season, route | Seeing the inland without a car |
| Other islands by boat | Vis, Korčula, Brač | Timetable, return time | A longer day away from Hvar |
For most first visits, a Pakleni boat day plus one inland tour is a balanced choice. Add the Blue Cave if you want a full day at sea and the weather is settled.
Before you book
Points that save trouble on the day.
Blue Cave rules
The cave is on Biševo, not on Hvar. Swimming and diving inside it are not allowed. Entry is €24 for adults from 20 June to 10 September and €18 in the shoulder season. Children aged 6 to 12 pay €12 or €9, and under 6 is free. Light is best between about 10:00 and 14:00, depending on the season. There is no guaranteed entry slot.
Protected waters
The Pakleni Islands are a protected landscape, and the surrounding sea is a Natura 2000 area. Do not expect free anchoring everywhere. Follow local instructions on the day.
Wine and driving
If you drive yourself to a tasting, the driver should not drink. Police advise against driving under the influence of alcohol.

Wine and inland tours
What the island offers away from the sea.
Plavac Mali is a red grape and Bogdanjuša a white one from the island. Steep southern slopes around Ivan Dolac and Sveta Nedjelja are planted with Plavac, and Vrisnik in the north is a wine area too. A tasting can come with Dalmatian cheese or ham, but that is an example and not a fixed format. Tours differ in length, number of wines, food and transfer.
Inland trips pass villages such as Velo Grablje and Brusje, known for lavender, and the UNESCO-listed Stari Grad Plain. Late June to early July is the usual lavender window, with no promise for a given date. See lavender on Hvar and Stari Grad.

Hvar tours: frequently asked questions
What is the best tour on Hvar?
That depends on what you want. A Pakleni boat day suits swimming, the Blue Cave suits a long day at sea, and a wine tasting suits an inland afternoon. The table above compares types, not a ranking.
Does a Blue Cave trip include the cave ticket?
It depends on the offer. Entry to the cave is priced separately at €18 to €24 for adults. Check what the booking lists.
Are tours cancelled for bad weather?
Boat trips can change route or be cancelled when the sea is rough, and the cave can be closed. Look at the cancellation terms on the booking page.
Do I need to book in advance?
In summer it is safer to book ahead for popular boat days. A listing does not show free seats on your date, so check availability.
Can children join the tours?
Many can. Cave entry is reduced for ages 6 to 12 and free under 6. Check age limits on each offer.
