Hvar snorkeling: where the water is clearest
Hvar snorkeling is easiest from the water. The tourist board names Mekićevica, Mlini and Jerolim as places to snorkel, and Mlini lies on Marinkovac in the Pakleni archipelago, a short boat ride from the harbour.
Pick by the kind of day you want: a long boat day that also visits the Blue Cave on Biševo, a six-hour sail with a paddleboard, or a guided kayak paddle along the Pakleni coast. Prices are per person and valid as of November 2026.

Blue Cave group tour with snorkelling stops
The group boat leaves from the main square office in Hvar town, on the right side of the square as you face the cathedral. Check-in closes at 10:00, the boat departs at 10:30 and it returns at 17:30, or at 18:00 in high season. The route runs past Budikovac, the Green Cave, Stiniva, the Blue Cave on Biševo and Palmižana, with swimming and snorkelling between the stops. Bottled water and snorkelling masks are included at €98.
The Blue Cave itself is a boat visit only, because swimming inside is not allowed. The ticket is paid on top: €24 for adults from 20 June to 10 September and €18 from 1 April to 19 June and from 11 September to 31 October. An optional Green Cave visit adds €8 to €12. Wind can change the order of stops or the destinations, and bad weather means a rebooking or a refund.
Pakleni Islands sailing trip
The six-hour sail starts at 10:00 in the centre of Hvar town, a minute's walk from the ferry dock, and you should arrive 15 minutes early. The skipper picks a bay near Sveti Klement, Ždrilca or Vela Garska depending on wind and anchorage. Bring swimwear, a towel, sun protection and a hat. The operator describes April and October as cooler months for swimming, so this trip suits summer best.
Guided kayak tour with snorkelling
The kayak tour of the Pakleni Islands starts at 9:30 from Križna Luka, a ten-minute walk along Šetalište put Križa from the town centre. It covers 8 to 9 km in about four and a half hours at €80, with a local guide, the kayak equipment and a dry bag. Your guide chooses the bay according to weather, sea state and visitor numbers. You need no kayaking experience because a briefing comes before departure, but you should be fit and comfortable in the water. Bring 1.5 litres of water, sun protection, a hat and water shoes, and arrive 15 minutes before the start. If the operator cancels for weather, you get another date or a full refund.
Which trip suits you?
Choose the Blue Cave group tour if you want caves and snorkelling in one day and do not mind paying the cave ticket on the day. Choose the sail for a relaxed six hours with a paddleboard and a glass of wine, and the kayak tour if you prefer to move under your own power and have fewer people around. In high summer the tourist board suggests early morning or late afternoon for quieter beach visits.
